Flogging Molly is above all a live act, famous for their tireless energy when in concert. They have a reputation for memorable but friendly pogos that set off right from the first few notes and the way the audience dances during the more folky tracks. Formed in 1997 and comprising 7 musicians, all influenced just as much by The Pogues as by Irish folk, Flogging Molly is a mixture of punk, hard rock and traditional Irish music. Music that should be classed under the Celtic punk category, not too far away from the Dropkick Murphys which mixes the rhythms and aggressiveness of folky sounding punk with pirate tunes as well as using unconventional rock instruments like the violin, banjo and accordion.
