Laurent Garnier
(Electronica/House/Techno - France)
Throughout his 20 year career, Laurent Garnier has imposed himself as one of the most popular DJs and producers on the planet, but also as a real music lover and a benchmark. From his beginnings at Manchester's Hacienda to his Paris residencies at Rex, Laurent Garnier goes hand in hand with the history of house. Garnier has seen it all; from the first explosion to the ultimate popularity of techno.
From 1991, he began to produce his own tracks for the dance division of Fnac music, before pursuing a pioneering adventure with F Communications with his accomplice Eric Morand. "Shot in the dark", Garnier's first album, was released in 1994 and confirmed the dj's status as a producer. What followed was a glamorous path: the hits "Acid Eifel", "Crispy Bacon", "Flashback" and "The Man with the Red Face", the first Victoire de La Musique and Olympia awards for an electronic music artist and performances at the biggest raves, festivals and clubs of the world. A unique journey that he brilliantly retraces in his book Electrochoc.
Having reached the height of popularity, given credibility to the movement that is so close to his heart, produced an album completely outside the dance format, followed by ambitious tours mixing traditional musicians with programming, today Laurent Garnier is enjoying himself. Djing? Only selective performances. And it's the Ardentes that he has chosen this summer in Belgium. There?s little point specifying that his set will once again be a lesson in the history and love of music on the giant dance floor in the Parc Astrid.
