ALICE RUSSELL (Soul/Pop - UK)
Muse of the Tru-Thoughts label, Alice Russell is the sublime voice of the Quantic Soul Orchestra, a powerful voice capable of both stirring the body and calming the spirit. Influenced by Minnie Ripperton, Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin and Jill Scott, this little blonde encapsulates the modern soul diva, notably on her fantastic reworkings of The White Stripes "Seven Nation Army" with the group Nostalgia 77, and "Crazy" by Gnarls Barkley. Over outrageously sixties arrangements, she amazes with touches of blues tinted soul, gospel, hip-hop and 70s funk. Much in demand, she recently collaborated with Ninja Tunes DJ Mr Scruff and counts Daddy G of Massive Attack and Gilles Peterson amongst her admirers. Les Ardentes can't help but also succumb.
