MAGNUS (Electro - BE)
After setting alight the first edition of the Ardentes in 2006, Magnus will once again transform Parc Astrid into a dancefloor this summer. Magnus is one of the projects of the great Tom Barman (dEUS) and CJ Bolland, DJ/Producer and key player on the international techno scene. The Belgian duo offer up sexy, sweaty music, bathed in 80s funk without falling into the trap of the usual cliches. Their first album, released in 2004 and entitled "The Body Gave You Everything", consisted of guest appearances from various talents, like Tim Vanhamel (Millionaire), Tomas De Smet (Zita Swoon), David Eugene Edwards (16 Horsepower) and saxophonist Peter Vermeersch. The real gem of this record is without contest "French Movies", influenced by classic 80s electro. More than just a mere flash-in-the-pan "side project", Magnus are distinguished by the way Tom Barman sings and produces. 2009 will be their comeback year with a new single scheduled for the summer. Where else would be better than the Ardentes to savour this comeback ?
