Metronomy is, first of all, the story of a noodler, deep in his cellar with two old machines bought on e-bay. Next came his first album, which passed by almost unnoticed, then several prestigious remixes (Charlotte Gainsbourg, Sébastien Tellier, Klaxons, Franz Ferdinand, Gorillaz, etc.), and finally, he met huge public success thanks to an enormous album, unfailingly effective and made to sweep up anything in its path. "Nights Out" is the masterpiece of Metronomy, now a trio. It is a concept album that does away with MP3 as a listening mode, imposing a record that you should take time to savour from the first to the last track. Metronomy conjures up the ghosts of Kraftwerk, Devo, Brian Eno and Sparks mixed with the energy of nu-rave groups like the Klaxons. The result is an arrangement which is resolutely unique of its genre, totally addictive, pretty damn inventive and sure to bring the Ardentes to boiling point.
