PARA ONE (Electro - FR)
Producer hiding behind many TTC tracks, Jean-Baptiste de Laubier aka Para One, has now been dragged out from the shadows to finally talk about himself. Epiphany, his first solo album released in 2006 on the Institubes label, sounds above all, like an electronic work, one which also conserves hip-hop's taste for catchy melodies and huge beats. This opus is an electronic gem whose numerical minimalism successfully creates surprisingly rich melodies. Alternating big club sounds and nostalgic harmony, this album contains hidden nuggets such as the wonderful "Dudun-Dun" which alone justifies the term "new French Touch". In 2007, came the soundtrack for the film Naissance des pieuvres. On this album he made room for insistent synths and purring machines'looking back on Daft Punk, this ex-competitive skier, meanders electronically to transform the whole lot into dancefloor rage !
