RONI SIZE & MC DYNAMITE (UK)
Roni Size is one of the most well-known and respected drum'n'bass producers, just as much underground as with the general public. Born of Jamaican parents, Roni Size grew up in the ghetto of St Andrews in Bristol, also the playground of Tricky and Massive Attack. It was there that he dedicated himself to the most innovative music, from hip-hop to house, via dub. At the beginning of the 90s, he had already met his future label partners: Krust, Suv and DJ Die. They very quickly created Full Cycle and Dope Dragon, two labels whose quality and originality never failed to surprise and already their jungle sound was tainted with jazz, soul and dub, without any concessions to the length of their rhythms. It was in 1997 that his collective Reprazent released the album "New Forms" which was hugely successful both critically and commercially. Roni Size also won the prestigious Mercury Prize, beating both Radiohead and Portishead. Roni Size is glad to take on the role of flying the flag for drum'n'bass with his live performance and releases still the best of the bunch. At the Ardentes he will be accompanied by MC Dynamite, one of the best drum'n'bass MCs.
