CRYSTAL CASTLES (Electro/Punk - CA)
Crystal Castles belong in the “passionately uplifting” category. Spotted via MySpace in 2005, the Canadian duo made up of Ethan Kath and singer Alice Glass were immediately surrounded by an aura of cult and mystery. After a debut single recorded based on Alice’s voice tests, “Alice Practice” on Merok Records, Crystal Castles were courted by all the record companies and followed this with remixes of The Klaxons and Health. Their sound is a blend of electro-punk and 8-bit video game noises, which are established as the trademark of their success. A reputation that can only increase following live performances where their singer Alice displays almost atomic energy onstage to accompany already electrifying music. At Les Ardentes they will perform their long awaited second album, announced for release this summer on Fiction, The Cure’s old label.
