JAMIE LIDELL (Soul/Funk/Electronica - UK)
Some find a strange resemblance to Marvin Gaye, others find the soul of Otis Redding, the dynamism of Jamiroquai or the funky touch of Sly Stone. Eclectic and disjointed, the wild crooner on English label Warp, Jamie Lidell is all these things at once. A wave that crashed onto a mass audience in 2005 with “Muliply”. It was the beginning of success for the British artist, however it wasn’t his first attempt. Jamie has been immersed in music since his youth, his tastes leading him towards electronica. He spent hours composing with his sampler, releasing his first solo album in 2000 “Muddlin Gear’. He then turned towards other influences: soul, funk and jazz, thus releasing “Muliply” and three years later the still very soulful “Jim”.
Today this elusive artist returns with a new album entitled “Compass”. The first single resembles nothing he’s done before. A marvel of artistic disorder powered by an alchemic never-ending unstoppable groove! We are eager to discover what his new project will be like onstage at Les Ardentes.
