This year, the Ardentes will celebrate the great return to form of Cake, the group who put their name to some of the best indie hits of the 90s, like “Frank Sinatra”, “The Distance” and the unforgettable cover of “I Will Survive”. After seven years absent, Cake still sound just as fresh. The group have managed to reinvent themselves without denying their roots, which is where their extraordinary class comes from. It’s a great pleasure to hear their new album “Showroom of Compassion” with unusual guitars and joyous trumpets. With prominent bass, an unrelenting groove, solid roots in US music culture, a background of Americana-bluegrass-folk-country and their famous “Cake” groove that evokes both soul and surf music, all these elements are brought together so that sweet euphoria will win over Ardentes festival-goers.
